Big Three leaders confer with President over stalemate 19.10.10

Leaders of the three major parties - UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) - met President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at Shitwal Niwas Tuesday morning, discussing the current political stalemate and its possible solution.
Caretaker Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, NC president Sushil Koirala and UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal went to Shital Niwas to for the joint consultation with the President.

The meeting that lasted for over two hours dwelt on how the difficulties surrounding government formation, constitution-drafting and peace process could be sorted out, UML chairman Khanal told journalists after the meeting.

According to NC president Koirala, President Yadav expressed worry over the delay in installing the new government and urged the leaders to arrive at an understanding at the earliest in order to complete the constitution-writing and the peace process within the remaining tenure of the Constituent Assembly.

Koirala also mentioned that the leaders of the three parties "reiterated their readiness to forge consensus" during the discussion. nepalnews.com
