'Democracy may fall into jeopardy post May 28 if parties don't ensure statute' 11.10.10

A senior CPN-UML leader on Monday said that the nation's democracy can fall into grave danger after May 28, 2011 if all the political parties don't work to ensure a timely constitution after forging political consensus among themselves.
The senior CPN-UML leader, Ishwor Pokharel, who is the party's general secretary, stated that people have not been able to duly realise the tremendous political and social transformation Nepal has seen in the past few years because of lack of any progress in completing the important task of integration and rehabilitation of former Maoist combatants and successfully concluding the peace process.

Pokharel made this remark while addressing a function organised by newly elected central committee of All Nepal National Free Students' Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of CPN-UML.

At the programme, he congratulated the newly elected ANNFSU committee and said he hoped it will be able to muster up enough courage to face the challenges that remains in the country's educational sector.
