Ex-King comes clean on his commoner status 08.10.10
"I have already become
an ordinary citizen. It's all right to call me Gyanendra Shah," the
ex-King said responding to a media query after a function organised to
announce the launching of an NGO 'Himani Trust', which is named after
and presided over by ex crown princess Himani.
"Ask the organisers [of the programme] why they call me Maharaj," he further said.
Shah inaugurated the NGO at the five-star Soaltee Hotel in a ceremony attended by former royalties and supporters.
Asked for his view on the current political deadlock, Shah suggested the journalists to ask the question to the legislature parliament.
"The time for me to speak has not come. I'll speak when people want me to do so. So, it is better to ask this question to the parliament," Shah said.
Meanwhile, former crown princess described the Trust as her "small social initiative", which aims to help the people in need.
According to her, the Trust will involve in health, development and other social projects. It will launch its programmes in Dolakha district initially.
