28 parties authorise CC to finalise thorny issues of new statute 19.01.11

A meeting of 28 parties in the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Wednesday agreed to authorise the Constitutional Committee (CC) to sort out all thorny issues dogging the constitution writing.

According to UCPN (Maoist) vice chairman, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the 28 parties agreed that all issues related to statute-drafting would now be handled by the CC.

"Parties from today will not involve in sorting out such issues," Shrestha told reporters after the meeting, "Now onwards the Constitutional Committee will handle such works as it is the legitimate body for the new statute writing."

Chief of the CC Nilambar Acharya had been stressing that neither the high-level taskforce nor 28 parties were the responsible bodies for finalising debatable issues and that only the CC and CA are the legitimate bodies to do so.
