CoAS Gurung's UK visit draws to a close 10.10.10
General Gurung was
interested in how the British Army had contracted for the Academy to be
built and administered by a civilian contractor through a "public
private partnership", a scheme that is often used in the UK to improve
the quality of service yet share the risks of a large venture,
according to a release issued by the British Embassy.
A reception was given in the honour of the Army chief by the Nepalese Ambassador to London, Dr Suresh Chalise, later that night.
According
to the statement, the guest list, drawn from Nepal's many friends in
the UK, included representatives from military, diplomatic and
conservation circles, as well as members of the Britain-Nepal Society.
Key
British Military figures, Field Marshall Sir John Chapple and Chief of
the General Staff, General Sir Peter Wall were also present.
During
a short speech of welcome, the Ambassador referred to the long historic
friendship between the two countries and armies and expressed his
pleasure that the ties seem, once again, to be strengthening.
