PM, speaker discuss ways to resume obstructed House 20.01.12
In the meeting, speaker Nemwang is learnt to have urged the PM to take initiation to resume the House.
The PM-Speaker meeting came hours after the main opposition parties- Nepali Congress and CPN-UML - and the fringe parties obstructed the House demanding withdrawal of the recent government decision to legalise the land transactions approved by the "people's governments" run the Maoists during the insurgency.
Following the obstruction, speaker Subas Nemwang has
already instructed the government to furnish the clarification in the
parliament over the controversial decision.
.
Seventeen political parties represented in the parliament
including NC and UML have decided to continue obstruction in the House
until the government revokes its decision.
Earlier this month, the coalition government led by the Maoist party had decided to legitimise the transfer of ownership, use and transaction of the lands recognised by the then people’s government of the Maoist party.
The NC and UML have been saying that the cabinet decision was against the Comprehensive Peace Accord, Interim Constitution-2063 and the existing laws of the country.
The Supreme Court on Thursday issued an interim order to the government not to implement its decision to legalise those transactions. nepalnews.com
