AISC proposes three names for monitoring mechanism; Madhesi parties express dissatisfaction for ignoring them 19.01.11

A meeting of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) held at the Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar on Wednesday morning proposed the names of three members to be included in the six-member special monitoring mechanism which was formed to replace UNMIN after its departure.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal proposed Barshaman Pun of UCPN (Maoist), Dr Ram Sharan Mahat of Nepali Congress and Ishowr Pokhrel of CPN-UML as three probable candidates as members of the monitoring mechanism.

PM Nepal referred their names in an attempt to give final structure to the monitoring mechanism, which comprises three each representatives from the AISC and its Secretariat as agreed by the government and UCPN (Maoist) in the recent pact.

Meanwhile, Madhesi leaders who were present during the meeting expressed their strong dissatisfaction for not including any representative from the Madhesi parties.

"We tabled our note of dissent as Prime Minister neglected our representation in the monitoring mechanism," JP Gupta of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal informed reporters after the meeting.
According to Gupta, PM assured Madhesi leaders that he would discuss the issue with UCPN (Maoist) chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal and try to add some representatives from Madhesi parties.
